DEEP TISSUE OIL MASSAGE
The use of essential oils in massage is a fantastic way to maximize the healing power of the massage itself. Essential oil massage is particularly effective in balancing the mind and emotions while the act of the massage works on both body and mind. Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is a therapy in which pressure is applied to reflex points on feet. It is based on the principle that these reflex points are related to the internal organs and glands, and are laid out in the same arrangement as that in the physical body, forming a “map” of it. Reflexology aims to improve the function of organs and glands, and all systems of the body. The total body relaxation can lead to the balancing of all internal and external body systems. Reflexology can also improve circulation via stimulation to the nervous and subtly energy systems.
CUPPING
Cupping therapy is usually used as part of acupuncture or body massage treatment and has been a part of Chinese medicine for over 2,500 years. A partial vacuum placed on the skin is created in cups by means of suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. Cupping can bring fresh blood to the applied area and improves local and general circulation.
HOT STONE THERAPY
Hot stone massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The heat of the massage stones warms the skin, which allows for the absorption of moisturizing and therapeutic oils, while simultaneously preparing the musculature of the body so the massage therapist can work into the deeper muscle layers. Benefits of thermotherapy include: increased local circulation, improved blood flow to surrounding tissues, and greater ability to transport toxins and waste products from the area.
